Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools by the Government to support eligible pupils and help reduce barriers to learning.
Could your child be eligible?
From September 2026, the eligibility criteria for Free School Meals (FSM) have changed.
Children whose families receive Universal Credit can now be eligible for Free School Meals, regardless of household income.
There are two categories of Free School Meals:
- Targeted Free School Meals – children who meet the existing income criteria. This is the category used to determine Pupil Premium funding.
- Expanded Free School Meals – children who are eligible because their household receives Universal Credit but who do not meet the income threshold for Targeted FSM.
Even if your child is already entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, it is still important to check whether they are eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals. Your child may be eligible for additional support through Pupil Premium.

How does Pupil Premium support our pupils?
At Park Primary School, Pupil Premium funding helps us to provide additional support and resources designed to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes for eligible pupils.
This may include:
- additional staffing and targeted support
- pastoral and wellbeing support
- support with learning and progress
- resources and enrichment opportunities
- support to improve attendance and engagement
We use our funding carefully to respond to the needs of our pupils and ensure that it has a positive impact on their education and wellbeing.
